What’s the difference between divorce@nonattorney and hiring a divorce attorney?

Unlike hiring a divorce attorney, our service offers a more affordable, cooperative approach without court appearances or hourly fees. You’ll get professional support, flat-rate pricing, and a simplified process — all without the stress of a traditional legal battle.

Can we still use your services if my spouse and I don’t agree on everything?

Yes! Many of our clients start out with unresolved issues. If you and your spouse need help reaching an agreement, our Guided Mediation Package includes a certified mediator who will work with both of you to find common ground on topics like property, custody, and support… all in a calm, structured way.

Do you help with property division?

Absolutely. Our services include support for common divorce issues like dividing assets or debts. Whether you’re in full agreement or still working through the details, we’ll help you document your terms clearly and legally.

How long does the divorce process typically take once I sign up?

It depends on your situation and your local court timeline, but most clients receive their completed paperwork within 2–5 business days. From there, filing and finalization depend on your state’s process. Some divorces are finalized in just a few weeks; others may take longer if court approval or response time is needed.

Is this service available in my state?

We currently offer service throughout Florida, and will soon be in all 50 U.S. states. Our documents and guidance are tailored to meet your state’s specific requirements, and we’ll ensure everything is up to date with local laws and filing processes.

Do both spouses need to be involved from the beginning?

Not necessarily. You can start the process on your own, and we’ll help coordinate your spouse’s involvement later when it’s time to review and sign documents. Many of our clients begin individually, then invite their spouse once they’re ready to move forward.

What if my spouse doesn’t want a divorce or refuses to sign?

In Florida, your spouse doesn’t have to agree to the divorce — but they do have to be served and given the opportunity to respond. If they refuse to sign, the case may proceed as a contested divorce. While divorce@nonattorney focuses on uncontested cases, we can still help prepare initial paperwork and guide you through your options.

Is this legally binding and recognized by the courts?

Yes. All documents we prepare are valid and tailored to Florida court requirements. Once signed, filed, and accepted by the court, they are fully legal and enforceable.

Will I need to go to court at any point?

Most uncontested divorces in Florida can be resolved without a formal court appearance. In some counties, a brief final hearing may be required — but we’ll let you know what to expect based on your location and help you prepare if necessary.

What if we’ve already started the divorce process elsewhere?

If you’ve already filed with the court or started the process using another service, we recommend contacting us first to discuss your situation. In many cases, we can still help — especially if you need mediation or help finalizing documents the right way.

What if I need legal advice during the process?

While divorce@nonattorney does not provide legal advice or act as a law firm, you’re welcome to consult an attorney at any point. Many clients use our services alongside legal counsel when needed to keep costs down while still staying informed.

Do you provide services for same-sex couples?

Absolutely. Our services are available to all Florida residents, including same-sex couples. We treat every client with respect and provide the same personalized support regardless of relationship type.

Is mediation required if we don’t agree on everything?

It depends on your situation. If you and your spouse are unable to agree on important issues, mediation can be a helpful, often court-recommended step. Our Guided Mediation Package includes sessions with a certified mediator to help you find resolution without needing to hire attorneys.

Can I upgrade to a different package after starting?

Yes! If your needs change, you can upgrade to a higher-level package at any time. Whether you realize you need filing support or mediation later in the process, we’ll credit your existing payment and guide you through the transition.

Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. We offer installment options through Affirm at checkout, which allows you to break up the cost of your package over time. Approval is handled by Affirm directly during your purchase.

Is your service really confidential?

Absolutely. Your information is handled with the highest level of privacy and security. We never share your personal details, and all communication remains strictly between you and the divorce@nonattorney team.
